It was pointed out to me that there may be some confusion about the name of this strip.  But that's okay.  The Greek similarity certainly adds to the "scientific" flavor, but ultimately it's an anagram for the company, "Extra Terrestrial Intelligence Private Investigators.  And personally I prefer how it sounds when you spell it out.
